Yet around the world, inequities in health prevent underserved populations from achieving their full potential. Climate change, conflict and other crises further expose the vulnerability of global health systems.
Through this mission, UNOPS is dedicated to helping strengthen healthcare systems to advance quality healthcare for all.
From procuring essential health-related equipment and supplies, to building sustainable health infrastructure, to enhancing local capacity through the latest advances in policy and practice.

Increasing access to telemedicine in GeorgiaUNOPS partnered with WHO, UNFPA and UNICEF to strengthen primary healthcare services through digital health solutions. This includes procuring telemedicine equipment for 50 clinics, conducting readiness assessments and training staff for successful implementation.

Improving health services in EthiopiaUNOPS is supporting Ethiopia to enhance health services and infrastructure in its southern regions. This includes rehabilitating health centres and schools, improving water and sanitation, and ensuring inclusivity through a gender-sensitive approach.

Building a more resilient health system in YemenYemen's conflict has devastated its healthcare system, creating an urgent need for humanitarian aid. In response, UNOPS, in partnership with KfW, has rehabilitated and equipped vital public health facilities, ensuring vulnerable communities receive essential healthcare services.

Sanitation and Hygiene FundThe Sanitation and Hygiene Fund raises, catalyzes and invests resources to help improve sanitation and hygiene in countries and areas that need it most, and have the least ability to respond.

Access to Health FundTo improve health equity in Myanmar, the UNOPS-managed Access to Health Fund supports the most underserved and vulnerable populations using a rights-based approach. The programme helps bring services where they are needed most, with particular attention to conflict-affected areas.

With millions in need of wheelchairs, hearing aids and more, the global movement catalyzes action to help people access and afford the life-changing assistive technology they need to improve health outcomes and participate in work, education and more.

The Global Fund – TEAMWith support from The Global Fund, the Tuberculosis Elimination Among Migrants programme works to reduce the tuberculosis burden among migrants in the Greater Mekong Subregion who have limited access to appropriate healthcare.

The Global Fund – MyanmarAs the Principal Recipient in Myanmar of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, UNOPS manages grants that are helping tackle epidemics in Myanmar by providing people with improved access to prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The Global Fund – Local fund agentThe Global Fund is a partnership designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics. As a local fund agent, UNOPS helps evaluate and monitor grant activities in 13 countries around the world.

The Global Fund – RAI3EWith support from The Global Fund, the Regional Artemisinin-Resistance Initiative Towards Elimination of Malaria supports increased malaria service coverage in the Greater Mekong Subregion for remote populations in border areas and other at-risk populations, as well as case management through health volunteers and strengthening of national surveillance systems.
