The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS)

Mission: Quality healthcare

Good health and well-being is the cornerstone for advancing equality and driving sustainable socio-economic development.

50%
Around 50% of the world's population does not have access to essential health services.

Yet around the world, inequities in health prevent underserved populations from achieving their full potential. Climate change, conflict and other crises further expose the vulnerability of global health systems.

Through this mission, UNOPS is dedicated to helping strengthen healthcare systems to advance quality healthcare for all.

From procuring essential health-related equipment and supplies, to building sustainable health infrastructure, to enhancing local capacity through the latest advances in policy and practice.

How we support

We leverage our experience delivering infrastructure, procurement and project management services to help address complex health challenges and develop sustainable, inclusive and resilient health systems.

  • Improving health infrastructure

We assess, plan, build and rehabilitate climate-resilient health infrastructure – including hospitals, health centres and laboratories – as well as essential supporting infrastructure – such as energy, water and waste management facilities.

  • Managing health programmes and projects

We provide fund and grant management, hosting, and capacity-building services to ensure the effective delivery of health programmes.

  • Supplying health goods and services

We procure medical equipment and supplies, and provide technical advisory support to help strengthen the efficiency and transparency of procurement processes for public health systems.
